Good morning.

I watched the Spring Game on TV. A couple thoughts:

1. Offensive line depth is a HUGE problem. Team couldn’t play a game yesterday because we only have five healthy OL.
2. Grayson Loftis looked better than Maalik Murphy early but Murphy ended up with the better stats.
3. The transfer wide receiver from ODU looked good.

Not a lot one can takeaway from yesterday as not only was it not a game it wasn’t even a scrimmage.
The opening scrimmage series had zero offensive linemen on the field. The defense was playing touch football and the refs blew their whistles on the first touch. The second series (after a punt) the linemen were on the field but no "real" hitting, the refs still playing touch football rules. This pattern continued throughout the two 15 minute quarters.

Both QB's throw a beautiful ball. Tight spirals, leading (front) end up so they're easy to catch. (Note: I said the same thing about Gavin Spurrier two years ago...) The receivers dropped too many passes.

Several of the linebackers and DB's looked good in coverage.

I didn't know that we only had 5 Offensive Linemen suited up. Bring on the portal players yet to commit! Lots of playing time available! :9f:

We suffered our first injury of the season - #18, a redshirt freshman wide receiver. He went down during a non-contact drill in the first few minutes of the practice drills that opened the session. Didn't see what happened to him but online comments said it looked bad. Don't have a clue as to how bad.

Regardless of who starts, we know how important it is to have another good QB on the sidelines. Nobody wants to be a backup, but Duke seems to have injuries under center often.

I’m excited about the upcoming year! Hoping to beef up that OL if we’re gonna compete.

DeWayne Carter to the Buffalo Bills in the 3rd Round (#95 pick overall). I expect Jacob Monk to be selected today in Rounds 4-7.

Seven OL is great news. I wish we had a couple more DL inbound.
