Austin Dillon is Richard Childress' grandson, as I'm sure you all know. Apparently he is the Golden Child. Hence the resurrection of the #3. I was no fan of Dale Earnhardt (he spun out my beloved Terry Labonte TWICE in the dying laps at Bristol one year) but it seems to me the number should be retired permanently.

I talked to a guy Saturday night who helped build engines for Austin Dillon's cars from his early days of racing until now. He and his compadres will be working with Ty Dillon, Austin's little brother. He said Ty is a way better driver than Austin because he wasn't given the same breaks as Austin and consequently learned a lot more along the way.
